Georgios Selimis

PhD, Msc (EE)

I am a cybersecurity and cryptography professional with expertise spanning security architecture, standardisation, regulatory compliance, and emerging security technologies. My work bridges technical, regulatory, and policy-driven perspectives, with a particular focus on cryptography, security protocols, trust infrastructures, and secure digital ecosystems.

I have over 20 years of experience working in international and multidisciplinary environments, collaborating with regulators, industry, academia, standardisation bodies, and certification stakeholders. I have led and mentored engineering teams and supervised PhD and Master's students from diverse backgrounds.

I hold a PhD (2008) in Cryptographic Design and diploma (2003) on Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras in Greece.

Experience

-Cybersecurity Advisor, Rijksinspectie Digitale Infrastructuur (RDI), Eindhoven, Netherlands (2025-Present).
Digital Secure Products
In my role as Coordinating Specialist Advisor at the Dutch Authority for Digital Infrastructure (RDI), I contribute to ensuring that technologies entering the European market meet cybersecurity, safety, and interoperability requirements. I actively participate in European and international standardisation activities, contributing to the development of cybersecurity standards and supporting the evolution of secure digital infrastructures and trust services.
-Lead Security Architect, Axelera AI, Eindhoven, Netherlands (2022-2025).
Security Chip Design for AI accelerators
Responsible for defining and implementing the security architecture of complex AI systems. This included market analysis, product, security risk assessment, threat modelling, security requirements and the development of end-to-end security concepts across hardware and software domains. I established the security architecture from the ground up and guided its implementation throughout the product lifecycle, from concept and design to successful silicon tape-out.
-Security architect, Intrinsic ID (acquired by Synopsys Inc.), Eindhoven, Netherlands (2016-2022).
I worked on security solutions and root-of-trust technologies, focusing on secure authentication, key management, and trust establishment mechanisms for secure digital systems.
-Research & Development Engineer, Imec, Eindhoven, Netherlands (2008-2015).
I led R&D projects at imec Nederland in cybersecurity, secure communications, and digital trust technologies. My work included security architectures for critical applications, secure wireless systems, and the evaluation of cryptographic and hardware-assisted security mechanisms.
-Researcher, University of Patras, Patras, Greece (2003-2008).
Research on low resourses applied cryptography
